Let's say I have a VST/synth and associated midi track. I'd like to bounce a few bars of midi, essentially a midi-clip, to Audio for separate processing.

I thought I would simply right-click on the midi-clip, and select bounce-to-audio, but I cannot figure out how to do so.

FWIW, I do know I can bounce an entire track, so maybe the midi-bounce is from a different DAW. Not really sure any more.

Any guidance on how to best bounce a few bars of midi to audio would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I forget when it became a thing, I think it was in the new SONAR, but now you can record the output of the vsti to it's track and that will be audio instead of MIDI. You can probably use the record punch in range to constrict the recording to a particular section.

Freeze the midi track, select the region you want to keep, and click & drag to an audio track.

^^ This is what I would do. Then unfreeze the first track, and you're back in business
All the best.

It never occurred to me to try this. I had no idea it could work like that. Thanks for this. Just makes me realize that "I don't know, what I don't know"

I'd prefer selecting the part and doing a normal bounce-to-track. It must be possible still - right? It does not differ in any way from bouncing a track. I bet it's faster than freezing>cutting/copying>unfreezing. Plus that freeze-unfreeze always includes an extra risk of some type of corruption. Of course, if you have separate MIDI- and audio output tracks, both must be selected.

Thank you for the freeze idea. I knew it was too simple for me to figure out
