  • Lack of support for Waves V9 plug-ins

In other posts I mentioned having problems with installing V9 into my Sonar Professional - well the V9's are only supported by Platinum as I found out and I guess too stupid to not have noticed that in the specs page for Waves plug ins. Just curious which side of the equation - to support or not support makes this decision - Waves or Cakewalk? Thanks!

The decision will be with Waves because that is the version of Sonar they have tested their plugins with.

The support for VST's across all of the Sonar versions should be the same so if Waves say Sonar Platinum it will work in Professional as well.

Those Waves plugs should work just fine in Professional. The underlying VST handling should be exactly the same. You should get the Waves people to help you install them. I ran Professional with V9 of Waves without issue.

That is an interesting question of are VSTs handled differently from version to version. I would assume they are handled the same but there might be differences we are not aware of.

Sonar versions all handle VSTs the same. If they run in Platinum they will run in Professional.

There is much room for user error in the installation of Waves plugins. There is a new Waves Central version to download and install so that's a must do at the moment if you haven't done that.

Waves have a very good responsive support service and will answer questions and get you fixed up very quickly.

As a long time Waves user that's been my experience.

I find the best practice with Waves is to use the default locations for everything. I used to have custom directories and problems. Reinstalled using default settings and never an issue since. It's easy to tell Sonar where to look.

Windows 10 here, Platinum 2017-05 and I've had numerous problems with Waves Central.

This is an interesting thread.  I have Win 10 Pro and never had a problem using Waves Central. Like John I use the default locations.

Default locations here as well, no problems. Previously when I tried to get creative with installation I wasn't so lucky.
