  • Possible to Turn of the *** **** Screen Sets?

Working in event list or some other view, if my cursor is not in the right place or the focus si wrong when I hit a number key, havoc is wreaked upon my screen: browers and inspectors disappear, things undock, etc. and I have to try to put crap back together.

If we can't turn these off, can there at least be a go back or undo key?

I have been using the same templates for years and I don't necessarily remember every step I need to take to put stuff back where it goes.

If you have seen other posts from me in the past, you will know I am not a fan of a keyboard full of shortcut keys that can destroy things with an unintentional bump.  In this case, I meant to hit 7 but as a control value, not as a mosaic rearrangement.

konradh . . . I've done this many times myself, but can't you just go to the key bindings and unbind all the number keys which are linked to screensets ?

Though, now that you mention it . . . a "screensets on / off button" would be very useful for those of us who don't utilize screensets as part of their normal workflow, then you could turn it on when you do want to use it.

When that happens to me I immediately hit the "1" button. It always takes me back to where I was. I'm guessing it's the default screen set. It's a quick fix. I don't use any of the environment changers like screen sets or lenses but my cat will occasionally jump on the keyboard like a demented ninja. He knows keyboard shortcuts I've never seen before.

Ha ! . . . I've installed a little fence to keep my cat off the keys.

Bind the number keys to 'do nothing' to overide the default screenset bindings. 'Do nothing' is an actual binding function, the purpose of which is to overide default settings that you do not want.

Is that what happens.

Man, last week I hit a key and everything went wonky like you described Konrad.

Yes, let us disable this. I don't use em. Only by shocking accident.

Locking a screenset won't stop it changing to a new one when another number is selected.

I bound my number keys to do nothing a few years ago now, among quite a few other keyboard shortcuts... I know they are there to help, but if you don't use them, get rid.

My keyboard has no number keys on the right hand side.
For extra safety, I don't have a cat.

Grum.
