  • Possible to Turn of the *** **** Screen Sets? (p.3)

Working in event list or some other view, if my cursor is not in the right place or the focus si wrong when I hit a number key, havoc is wreaked upon my screen: browers and inspectors disappear, things undock, etc. and I have to try to put crap back together.

If we can't turn these off, can there at least be a go back or undo key?

I have been using the same templates for years and I don't necessarily remember every step I need to take to put stuff back where it goes.

If you have seen other posts from me in the past, you will know I am not a fan of a keyboard full of shortcut keys that can destroy things with an unintentional bump.  In this case, I meant to hit 7 but as a control value, not as a mosaic rearrangement.

You can reprogram the hotkeys so that doesn't happen.  I basically use one screenset, you can also call up individual screens (event list, tempo view, controller view, etc.) without even using screensets...

Excellent suggestions--thanks.  I feel kind of dumb now.

PS No cats around here. Just my own stupid hands.

Ok...

For a work around maybe copy your basic preferred screenset to all 10 locations in your startup templates. Then hitting a number and you wont notice a change?

that will only "work" until you start to work with your project. each screenset will update based on what changes make when you work (show, hide, resize stuff, ...) now hitting a number by mistake gets a different screen which looks almost the same but not quite ... that'll be really confusing ... unless all screensets are locked (which would be really useless to start with)

either unbind the number keys or make some useful screensets (and label them like tracking, mix, editing, whatever) and start using them
