To handle project wide chunks with content and holes - is the first step to make an arranger like Cubase and Studio One has. Even tempotracks should be handled accordingly.

This is the hard part - the rest is rather easy - to make playlists of ranges of timeline.
Then generate new projects from different versions as you wish for further work.

Can someone explain to me what ripple editing is as if I were a ten year old?

Well, once upon a time there was a mummy sonar and a daddy sonar. They loved each other very much and they spent a very, very long time talking about their new baby, but didn't seem to be doing much about actually making it. People had started to talk and wonder if they didn't even really know how to make their baby and they knew that they would have to do something soon or people would get fed up of their blah, blah, blah.... but still no baby, so they finally got around to rubbing their pee-pee's together and soon afterwards they had a new baby and they called it ripple editing. Ripple editing changed everything and everyone was happy ever after.

I now understand that it's called ripple editing because the edit has a "ripple" effect on the rest of the events in that track. You move one thing and it moves everything else.. Got it!

In the Piano Roll View section it says:

"Tracks menu is back with commands for Select All Tracks, Clear Track Selection, Invert Track Selection, and Focus Previous/Next Track."

What exaclty are commands? Does that mean hotkeys / keyboard shortcuts?

Thank you!

Edit: Probably cleared up by this:
Keyboard Shortcuts
  • New Keyboard Shortcuts in Preferences for Piano Roll view. Now includes Auto Lock On/Off, Filter On/Off, Select All Tracks, Clear Track Selection, Invert Track Selection, and Focus Previous/Next Track.

Ripple editing is *most* welcome for me, but I'll let others explain it better than I probably can (though at least one of the mystified seems to have it cleared up now - it is, admittedly, a somewhat oblique term). My biggest hope at the moment is that this monster update will shut down the "Cakewalk doesn't care about us, they just took our money for 'lifetime updates' as a cynical cash-in and are clearly planning to abandon the product any minute" threads... for at least a day or two... maybe even a week if we're lucky!

Nice work Bakerpeople! Looking forward to digging into it pronto!
