  • Control Bar disappearing - BUG

Since 2017.04 I've had a bug sometimes when I open a project. The Control Bar is gone from the top. I then choose Views and see that Control Bar is selected and has an check by it. The fix is to uncheck Control Bar and recheck it. Then it shows up, but only a sliver of it about 1/2 inch wide. I can then drag the left side of it to the top of the screen and it’s then back to normal in size and position.

This doesn't happen with all projects  and seems intermittent. I just had this happen on a project, did my fix, didn't save the project and then closed the project, reopened the project and the Control Bar is fine.

I assumed 2017.05 would fix this bug, but it hasn't. Has anyone else seen this bug and has this bug been reported?

No I haven't seen that. Could be some lense problem/bug but I don't use lenses

All the best.

Lenses when selected can cause issues. If you want normal screensets just set Lens to  <None>.

I started using lenses some months ago. If it is a lens, I wonder if there's a workaround or fix? like redo or resave the lens? After setting up lenses I've really not used them except for the custom one that I have selected all the time.

It happens to me all the time - but I know why, and it may not be the same as you. It's the shortcut C key.  It's one of those shortcuts that bugs me because in the heat of a session when you're hitting the space bar it's too darn easy to hit the C key. Or the V, or the B, or the M. None of those shortcuts should be just above the space bar by default because it's too easy to hit them.  Recording studios can be dimly-lit places!

If you find certain key bindings to be a problem consider disabling them. To disable a keybindings open Preference > Customization > Keyboard Shortcuts and set the offending key combination(s) to the "Do Nothing" function.

[<font]I agree and have keyboard shortcuts set up so i have  assigned all keys that I don't use to Smart Tool. I tend to always have Smart Tool selected anyway, so selecting it again doesn't do anything. This way I don't accidently hit a key and wonder what the heck is going on. I like important shortcuts assigned to 2 keys like Control-Q, for instance. That way I can’t accidently hit one key and have something happen that I don't want to.

Cool, I never knew that one existed. Thanks.

If anyone has this happen to them the quickest fix is to go up to lenses and reselect the current lens, then the control bar reappears.
