Hi,
Whenever I try to use one of the 32-bit instruments in my 64-bit Sonar Platinum, the audio breaks up. As in, stutters, pops, clicks etc. Though, I have not tried them all.

Can you not use the 32-bit instruments with my 64 bit Windows 10 Pro?

I think most of us have moved on and avoid 32 plug ins. Only one I still have and it works fine is Mr Tramp. I have now  found 64 bit replacements for any of my old 32 bit plugs and VST's
My latest purchase of Air Complete expand pack for $60 at JRR shop has hugely made 32 bit obsolete for me and I will remove even my beloved Mr Tramp.

BR,

What you are experiencing is fairly normal. You could try jbridge (at a co$t). Some say that helps "certain" 32bit plugs more than bitbridge.

Like Johnny says most of us have moved on to 32bit plug free systems. I still have a few installed for compatibility until I re-open the project and then implement the 64bit version if it's not automatically replaced (which SONAR does a pretty good job of doing).

Thanks guys!
Okay, well that brings up the next question:
How do you go about removing unwanted instruments/plugins?

Most should have an uninstaller and can be removed through Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features in your Windows Control Panel depending on your version of Windows. There's also Settings > Apps in Windows 10 -- just click on an app and you will see an uninstall button.

It also depends on the VST or Plug in. Some used full installers but a lot of them were just a drag and drop dll file.

So what I would do is open Sonar and open the plug in manager and make notes of what you have. I think there is a (32) beside those.  If not the 32's show as yellow on my VST list in the browser and if you go to insert an audio effect too I think there's a (32) beside those.

Then you can go to Windows Programs and Features and un install those first,
Then I would open your plug in and VST folders and just manually delete them. But having a list will help for sure.

Like I say the only one I still have is Mr Tramp and I will leave it because as said above that way If I open a project that uses it It won't freak out. I went through my plug ins a year or so ago and deleted everything that said 32 bit.
I have 5 folders where they get parked for some reason but the Plug in Manager will list those locations.

While it is probably best to move on in most cases, it is not a hard and fast rule.  If you encounter a problem plugin, the answer is obvious.

But I have a few 32-bit VSTi plugins that work fine in Platinum 64-bit.  I keep Tone2 Firebird around because it was never upgraded to 64-bit, but it's unique and I like the sound.  There are also a few legacy Cakewalk instruments that never made the trip to 64-bit, but they still seem to work OK.

Fyi, you can also install the 32-bit version of Sonar side by side with 64-bit Sonar, which is another good way to keep your older plugins working if you wish.  I have both versions on my PC, and try to keep the 32-bit stuff separate this way.  This is a good way to open up older projects that may use the older plugins.
