In what sense? I know Equilibrium but haven't used it. Sonar's Quad Curve seems somewhat similar in basic looks though it's more limited in features (e.g. no linear phase). Sonar's Linear Phase EQ was launched a few months ago and roughly resembles EQuick more than Equilibrium.

Equilibrium is a very full-featured EQ. The only product I know with as many bells and whistles (and comparably priced) is Fabfilter Pro-Q. There are therefore going to be a few specific features that, if you want them, will require purchasing Equilibrium.
 
However, the features that these expensive EQs offer that Cakewalk's LP-EQ don't have are pretty esoteric and arguably non-essential (e.g. Equilibrium's ability to display a spectral view of another track). The bread 'n butter features are all in LP-EQ: all the essential filter shapes, left/right/stereo/mid-side assignment, band solo, superimposed spectrum (pre, post or both), makeup gain, more than enough bands, clean easy-to-use UI. Sonically, LP-EQ is the equal to any of the best EQs out there.

The short answer to your question is no.
Although that is in no way implying or inferring that the Quad EQ isnt a good eq , especially for those that only have access to that (what's provided in sonar).
IMHO, I think an EQ is one of the first 3d party plugin purchases that should be invested in.

EQuillibrium and Brainworx bx_digital V3 are best suited for Mastering, IMO. One can maybe assume that's what the OP question is based on.
 
Not that it can't be used in mixing, but it is a bit overkill if you plan to use it across all channels, for example. It certainly is a great tool and has way more flexibility than you truly need in most cases, but much like the Flux Alchemist you don't really need everything it does unless all else fails or you have a specific problem that needs to be solved. Try a lighter EQ, or at least get to know all the other EQ's in your arsenal before going after a bigger tool. No need to use a programmable robot arm to lift a paper-clip off the floor, when a simple magnet will suffice. 

I love the DMG product line, and I highly recommend the EQuillibrium which graces the 3rd Edition cover of Bob Katz' latest Mastering book. However, I almost never use it in a mix session unless it has a function I need I can't get elsewhere. In Mastering, it's fabulous! More often than not, Id reach for the EQuality or an emulated EQ. The EQ's that come with Sonar are quite powerful, and you don't have to force one EQ to handle all EQ duties at once.
