I wrote a series of how to articles to show those who have never built a computer how to do so if they want to know.

I'm on article 6 The articles can be accessed through the menu header.  Even if you select different hardware, the method to build a computer is basically the same or very similar between Intel and AMD. The first two or three articles deal more with the foundations of the components and you might find that part boring. The latter part of the series is more build specific for those who know almost nothing about the insides of a computer.

Building an audio computer really isn't much different than building any other computer. Mainly the video is better on gaming rigs and noise is a consideration with a computer that might be in the recording space.

These articles deal with obtaining the hardware that's right for you need and final assembly into a computer. I try to help the reader decide for themselves what they want....onboard video, intel or AMD, cpu speed and type.

In reality many basic rigs are fine running an i5 cpu, but if you're like many you might want more than that just in case you need it, so the more recent i7's are popping up in studio computers.

I know we have some good builders here in the CW site. This is just another possible option.

Though I've been building all my previous office PCs (read : easy built, not having to tune it for a specific tasks), I spend a little more time researching the correct components on my last DAW PC built and is happy with the performance. But after 5 years, the OS drive just gave way. Before the current crash, I've been planning to build a better system and is eagerly awaiting .. more to this later :)

However, putting down into clear instructions building a DAW PC is no simple tasks. Your hard work is much appreciated. Thanks!!

Thanks Albert!!

Sorry to hear of your OS drive failure. It seems you know what the problem is. I hope you had backups.
Being the procrastinator I am, I still have a copy of Acronis 2016 on my desk. Doesn't do me much good just sitting there.
