Getting back into work flow after long absence.  I have recorded harmony takes to different segments of the song on the same track.  I need to treat them differently and want to move them to a new track.  My working knowledge of the the smart tool doesn't get me there.  How do you do it?  Thanks!!!

The smart tool should work. Make sure you click on the upper part of the clip. Hold the shift key while you drag will keep 'em in line.    Good luck

Holding the shift key whilst dragging a clip up/down to a different track will preserve it's vertical position.

Holding shift *and* control will copy the clip to a different track.

You can also treat each clip differently by applying fx to the clip itself, though this might get a bit extravagant in terms of plugin count if you have  lot of clips.

If your harmony recordings are overlapping the main vocal it'd be best to first expand Take Lanes for that track to make it easier to find those particular clips.   Once you've done that, select the clips you want to move and like Jonesey said shift+drag them to the new track to maintain their position along the timeline.  That should leave you with the original track with lead vocals and new track(s) with harmonies.

I actually do the same thing quite often just for convenience during recording.  Sometimes I will also rename the take lanes and/or clips to better identify what they are.
