I'm not saying the videos aren't helpful, it just seems like a commercial for a competing product.  I see many threads here where the solution/answer is a video from Mixbus...It's more the "where" than the "what" is all....

EQ techniques are the type of thing that are easily transferable to other EQ's. Thing is most raw production technique vids that are any good are generally done with programs other than Sonar so it's important to get used to understanding the broadstrokes of how effects like EQ, compression, etc work in general then applying them to the tools we have in Sonar.

There is a great vid on Groove3 called "EQ's Explained" (or something like that) that REALLY nailed down how EQ's work, the various types of EQ's (functionality... not specific plugin brands), all the terminology associated with EQs, etc.

None of the EQ's he used were Cakewalk ones (IIRC) but they were all similar to the models we have. The info is universal.

Groove3 is of course a pay site but sometimes they allow certain vids to be viewed for free. It might be one of them. A month's membership to G3 was super useful to me though (we got a month free a couple years back through the Content Club) and I think it's only $15 or so for a month of unlimited viewing.

You seem like you'd really get a lot of use out of it. There are a bunch of Sonar vids on there too but the general production vids were the most useful to me.

Cheers.

I am a monthly subscriber.........

PS- I just ran the song thru an Ozone 7 Master preset(it's the signature one we got) and it's sounding pretty good!

Cool dude. Then you've seen the EQ Explained vid I'm talking about? If not... seriously check it out. It blasted open the doors for me. Same with some of the other "Explained" vids.

Ya noes I wouldn't steer you wrong.

Cheers.

Charly,

That vid is not Harrison's Mixbus related at all.

It's Mixbus TV which does not even promote Harrison's Mixbus product.

The youtube channel is about mixing (and mastering). He actually uses Pro Tools in his explanations (like many other tuts do).

Well that's intuitive!

My bad...... I apologize for the confusion.

IZotopes support page has free PDFs on mastering (under Ozone) and mixing (under Alloy 2 IIRC)... You can just list all products to find them the easiest. They are written very universally, so also a nice resource.
