Everything was working correctly until a few days ago. Then Komplete Kontrol 1.9.3 (R102) software, both stand alone and VSTi versions will not recognise my Mk1 NI S61 keyboard as a NKS device. I acts like a non NKS device and MIDI works bit the NKS features such as guide lights do not work. The devices are greyed out in selection the Controller Menu.

I reinstalled Komplete Kontrol and all seemed to be well but the next time I tried to use it (computer would have been rebooted at least once) the problem returned.

Next, I reinstalled the driver which did not solve the problem.

Reinstalled Komplete Kontrol again - It works.

Restarted the computer and its broken again.

Maybe its the result of of a recent Windows 10 update? I checked the NI forum but I don't see anything there, I will post there also.

Had the same problem. In the course of trying to figure out why my disk usage would run at 100% on every boot (that problem went away with next win10 update), I went in and disabled some startup services I thought may be unnecessary or contributing to the problem. Among those I disabled were 1 or possibly 2 that were related to komplete kontrol. Like you, reinstalling worked but only until the next boot because they were disabled at startup. I don't recall now the exact name of the services (I think NIHostIntegration sounds familiar) but enabling them at startup totally fixed the problem. I found the solution on the NI forum. Major facepalm when I realized that I had done this to myself but wouldnt be surprised if a win10 update might occasionally do the same thing. Took several frustrating hours to figure it out and 2 seconds to fix it.

That's my thread.

How did you get the host services to start automatically again. Mine was set correctly for an automatic start up but it was not loading. It seems be changing to automatic(delayed start) it works.

Glyn - this fixed the touch strips for me (which had not been working).  Easy fix once you know:

Thanks.

Things still seem to be working for me using the delayed start option. The ticket is open with NI, they have te dump from their support tool, maybe there will be a fix but the workaround is acceptable.

I now have the Komplete Kontrol colored keys working, the sustain pedal, the touch strips, the macro knobs, the scale settings, all of the different aspects working fine with Studio One.  Interesting scenarios for each, some separate areas in Studio One to activate different aspects, but all working great now.

Note: it was plug and play in Cubase.  For me, in Studio One, I had to do some extra steps.  But as long as it works fine in both I'm able to work as needed.
