I'm not providing my personal info to analytics sales men dressed up as a poll.

I thought they might need my social security number, so I added that at the end.

A request for my email address with an opt-in/opt-out? Well, considering that I'm already registered on their forum with that address, I figure I've already sold my soul.

Not much I could vote on, due to lack of experience with the products.

None of the plug-ins were anything that I had experience with except for Little Plate, and while it's a fine emulation, my favorite plug-in to come out in the past year (I think?) is MAutoAlign. None of Meldaproduction's or Boz Digital's stuff made the poll, nor did Audio Damage Rough Rider 2, nor ADHD Leveling Tool, nor Newfangled EQuivocate. Those were the ones that really rocked my mixing world this year.

I voted for Cakewalk By BandLab.
Credit where it's due.
Cheers.

There used to be entry into a prize draw with lots of gear, but I didn't see mention of that this year.  Maybe it's because they're changed the basis of the short list and the large companies don't want to donate gear anymore.

The poll asks you for email and then asks "What products will you be buying in the next 12 months"
Read the Voters rules page. Add 1+1 together.

As long as you agree to the terms of a poll you are offering up your info to be sold to other company's selling software, equipment, exc.

Its not just a poll, its a selective way to target customers exact needs.

ccLarry responded to too many of those polls, and look what happened. Now we have a direct link to his inbox.

Personally, I don't mind getting spammed by music software vendors, as long as they don't sell their mailing lists to third parties. I don't need any sketchy drugs from China, not looking for a Russian mail-order bride, and have no money to give to any African royalty.

Whether or not I'll regret getting on SOS' mailing list remains to be seen. From their privacy policy:

SOS will never sell your personal data or share it with third parties without your full consent. Currently the only request for such consent is when you enter one of our competitions and we ask you to voluntarily opt‑in to receive marketing information from the competition prize sponsor. This is optional and you are not obliged to opt‑in.

That means if you opt in, you have given permission to do whatever they like with your information. Same as every other vendor you've accepted emails from.
