Sidroe: Are you saying I will be able to choose ASIO under "Midi/drivers and settings" with a reinstall?
I believe I have correct drivers, as I can access the Roland Asio control panel and make adjustments.
I've tried to update a few times. Windows update reports "best available driver already installed"
That said, I never uninstalled original drivers when upgrading to win 10. But they were downloaded from Microsoft at that point.

ASIO is an audio specification. An ASIO driver will not show up anywhere in MIDI settings.

The MIDI driver mode options MME and UWP are not causing the issue described in the OP. These are the only options. MIDI driver modes is a Windows thing and has nothing to do with Roland or the Octa-Capture. Focus on the audio setup.

Thanks again! I (you) fixed it! A problem I've had for years..
I reduced latency/buffers to 5.
I bypassed all plugins.
I Activated the PDC.
The biggest impact was related to other plugins. With these out, I have no noticeable lag.
Thanks a bunch, guys. You are the best!  :)

Btw, midi latency is a lot better via standard midi versus USB on my Studio-Captures.
