I have been away from using Sonar for 6 months after moving to CA and retiring.  I want to thicken voclas naturally by taking multiple tracks.  When I loop record (comp), I have all take lanes, but the takes are muted except for the last one or the one I select.  How do I release the default setting so all takes can be heard at once?

You could change the recording method (by holding down the record button) and change it from "comp" to "sound on sound" (Prior to recording each take).   Or if you still use the default comp take recording method, CTRL click on each take lane, until they are all highlighted, so they will all be heard together.  

If my goal is to stack the takes, I use a separate track for each take.  If the goal is to composite them, I use COMP and record in a single track.

In preferences for recording(rightclick global record button) you select takes on separate tracks, for loop recording - and as said sound on sound.
If you don't you get separate lanes, which also has mute/solo stuff if to exclude any take.

Another method and one that may help the OP more if he already has his takes in comp lanes is to create 3 audio tracks, and copy/drag each take from the original take lanes to the new tracks.

That's how I do it. Even without stacking I use a separate track and I drag all the "keeper" phrases there. The recording track eventually gets archived.
