I understand the concept of a speaker cab IR but how do I use an IR within Sonar?  I assume there are plugins that host IR's?  What do you guys use?

Hi. I'm curious about this myself, and hope someone will educate me / us
All the best.

I believe you can load speaker impulse responses in TH3 Cakewalk.

Well, to clarify.  I am going to use a real amp -> load box -> DAW.  So, I don't plan on using an amp sim.

I use Kazrog recabinet. I haven't used Rematrix with cabinet IR's but I don't see any reason why you couldn't. https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=ProChannel.12.html

You can still use TH3 for speaker cab.
I also use Recabinet, and sometimes Redwirez IR Big Box which also comes with its own utility VST.

I can't paste links right now - but check Rosen Digital, they have a free IR loader, and another one called NADIR, and a great one (not free) called Torpedo Wall of Sound.

Then don't use the amp section...just bypass it, and use only the cabinet.

I used to use Recabinet, now I almost always use NadIR.  Just load them up like any other plugin and open an IR sample from within the impulse program. Lots of good, free, impulses out there.

PerfectSpace, which comes with Sonar loads IRs. I use that quite a bit. You get some hi and low pass and eq options also. Good way to get your feet wet because you already have it
Just downloaded NadIR, looks preety cool and simple-simple is good. Have to try it over the weekend. I also own Reverberate from Liquidsonics. Loads IRS and comes with a ton, but its not cheap. I bought it for the Convul reverb...Great reverb.

Checking Nadir and Reverberate out this weekend.
