Checking Nadir and Reverberate out this weekend.

Please let us know what you think of Nadir and Reverberate.

I believe you can load speaker impulse responses in TH3 Cakewalk.

Well, to clarify.  I am going to use a real amp -> load box -> DAW.  So, I don't plan on using an amp sim.

Then don't use the amp section...just bypass it, and use only the cabinet.

I use a real amp direct out (no emulation) and feed it to one of my sims this way.  Waves GTR, Guitar Rig and Amplitube all have the ability to bypass their amp sections and use only the cab/mic emulations.

I've not done much with the IR approach as I'm always able to great sounds with the above approach.

I have used NadIR to apply an SM57 IR when using a Red Box 5, which does not provide the mic emulation.  Works great.

You can load Cab IRs into any convolution plugin.
Some convolution plugins have a zero-latency mode... others don't.
If you're going to be playing in realtime thru the Cab IR, the zero-latency option will minimize latency (still have the round-trip latency from your audio interface).

I use a Marshall JTM45 head into a Rivera RockCrusher direct into my audio interface, then monitor through the Two Notes Wall Of Sound cab simulator plugin in Sonar. It sounds great and quite different than using Guitar Rig, Amplitube, Waves GTR or TH3... although I like experimenting with a combo of any of the above. Even a amp head from Guitar Rig run into a cab impulse from Two Notes will give you good results.

One note.... Sonar crashes for me if I try to flatten a comped track with Two Notes plugin enabled on it. I have to temporarily disable the plugin, flatten the comp, then re-enable the plugin and apply the effect. Then everything works fine.

Does anyone have any info on Redwirez IR loader?  Looks pretty promising to me.

I recently downloaded NadIR and the "7 Deadly Sins IR Pack" ..... it has literally hundreds of IR's

I mic my valve amp and as the speaker is in a DIY isolation box (so I don't kill next doors cat or put any windows out when I'm going for it...) I use NadIR as an audio FX plugin and load a couple of IR's from the 7 deadly sins pack.

With NadIR you can load 2 IR's at the same time and blend between them, so that's my amp tone, and two IR's .... cos sometimes you just can't have too much geetar!

I like using different IRs too - usually one close and on the cone, and another one further back - either on centre or off to the side a little.

Torpedo Wall of Sound is great for this, as you can just drag th emics around for different placements (as opposed to auditioning a bunch of IRs)

I've tried a few different programmes / methods and always go back to keFIR. Its free, simple, and very light load.

yes is it the one i choose mixir2, not free, unless you buy the bigbox set of ir's, which are pretty good by the way. it allows you to combine many ir's, not just cab's, eq ir's etc, which are included with it, plus if i recall correctly you get more with the bigbox set. after you combine them you can out put the result to a single ir for use.
