I did not have the License Manager installed for several years.  When I needed updates, I was told first to install License Manager and make sure it was current.  I was afraid it would mess up existing authorizations, but it did not.

Looks like with my PC. You can wait overnight, but I guess it will stay in this state. So you can shutdown and then boot one time in safe mode (I described in my post above)!
 
Hopefully then all will be fine.
