I think, based on today's experience, that I would highly recommend that NO ONE update Dimension Pro.

It will probably NEVER get any program changes since Rapture Pro supplants it.

It is a 3GB size and takes a long time to download.

Especially if you have moved the Multisamples folder to another drive (which I recommend you do) and if you have a custom VST folder like I do.

The two changes I reported are for SFZ files which I believe are not even used in any Dimension Pro program preset.

I agree, and that's what I was working on, and Dim Pro and Rapture (classic) are and have been chugging along just fine.

Well that's what I paid money for. A modernised rap and Dim pro disposing all the legacy complaints. Well Rap Pro works now but stiil the past is there. It really could have been so much better.

I get to the point now where people wonder if all these synths should be dumped never to be talked about ever again. There was a opportunity to turn it around and it just ended up to be a continuation of more or less the same thing with a different UI. We hoped and it ended up just being hope.

Here are the changes of the 3GB download distilled into two files.
Copy these changes and paste and save them into your DP Multisamples and you will save a lot of time:

Yes, that's what I paid my money for as well, but I didn't get it, and I would be very surprised if it works as expected even now, there are still people with silent, barely audible etc etc Rap Pro factory content, even after the latest update, I know at least one of them, whom like me is now a non user, it was just bad right out of the gate, with bugs staring you in the face, very poor show. I wish I had kept/could find my list of problem factory content for those who still hold strong to check out, alas I only have 1

[Edit] I for 1 am glad to still have Dim Pro and Rapture (and Z3TA2) thay are and have been fairly painless for me over the years

I'm not in favor of dumping older stuff at all. But If someone is going to take the time to update the program, they should also look at the installer as well. Probably it was made a dozen years ago and no one even understands it any more.

But it seems to have hard coded VST paths and saves the registration data in a manner inconsistent with stuff like Rapture and Rapture Pro.

If you look at the registry data for things like 'User Name', 'Product Key', 'Contents Folder' and the various data paths for Dimension Pro, Rapture, Rapture Pro and Zeta, you will wonder if they were all made by the same company.

I would add Rap Pro works now finally. But the lack of basic features that most of us would expect nowadays is depressing. Sorry.

I did some research into this and looked over the last few full installs I had for Dimension Pro.
In fact, in the Sonar X1 Producer full install, the DP Multisample files are still the same as this new install.
In particular, every sample file is in FLAC format and 'grepping' through all the SFZ files, there are no '.wav' file references.

So, in short, my own installation was in error in some way on the two files I mentioned above with the WAV sample references.

I have no idea how I got into that state as I don't think I edited any installed SFZ files, but for what it worth, the final judgement still goes:

The Dimension Pro installer at about 3GB is one of the largest installation files I have. There is no need to update the installation if you are happy with what you have as long as you have a 'recent' install (say Sonar X1 or later).

I really hate seeing non-green lights in CCC, so I performed the lengthy update again (1.5.5.16), but I'm rather obsessive.
