Hello people,
This is a composition for virtual winds, making use of 11 VSL winds.   It's a playful, bouncy, contrapuntal piece and is 4:38 in length.

Music
Score

Some of the artistic and computer techniques it employs are:
contrapuntal virtual wind composition in staff view
MIDI sequencing in event list
virtual orchestration and balancing of musical parts (mixing)
rendering to stereo wave file
signal processing of wave file

Nicely done, Jerry!  If I hadn't known up front that these were virtual instruments, I never would have guessed it was other than a performance by studio musicians.

Although I must admit that whenever I hear a composition for a wind ensemble, I'm unfavorably reminded of the educational films we had to watch in grade school that inevitably used copious amounts of such instrumentation for the soundtrack.  But then that just gives you a clue as to how old I really am.

Bonus points for using the word "contrapuntal" in a forum post. May be a first.

Not even close.  Google "contrapuntal site:forum.cakewalk.com" to see what I mean.

Nice piece Jerry! Thanks for posting the score too. I love to "see" your work.

No big deal on the word "contrapuntal" - everyone knows that's referring to when it's 4th down and your team kicks the football in the wrong direction. ;-)

Cool stuff Jerry, how did you approach humanizing the sequences? Any minute tempo fluctuations? I might 'conduct' the piece to create a tempo map. It can very helpful.
