Looking for a 2 in 1 laptop so I can play from the screen and run Sonar, philharmonic etc.. I see Core i7-5500 and Core i7-6500U with max 2.5 speed or so. Very simple recording but wonder what I do about the sound in these machines which isn't very good.

Use MuseScore 2 for charts. Tried a Lenova Flex 3. Ran Sonar ok but a little slow. Didn't try to install any synths.

Open to and hoping for suggestions.

You get a dedicated interface. What you get is dependent on budget and your expectations with respect to number of inputs/outputs/preamps, performance and extra features. I wouldn't recommend most things under about 150/200 euros/dollars. If you're serious about it and you plan to get a high quality device that will last you for a long time I would sooner suggest looking in the 400/600 range for a modest number of feature set but high quality.

Sorry if I'm misjudging your level of experience but just in case you have no idea what I'm talking about, I mean something like this:

 EDIT:
Sorry, I was posting from my phone and didn't see your sig. Now I see you already have a Saffire. In that case I don't understand your question with regards to sound quality. What do you mean exactly?
