When I record automation while playback on a 4-track song (2 VSTi + 2 audio tracks) always one or two of the VSTi drop dead a second after I hit the record automation button. The audio tracks always continue to play. CPU usage is below anything noticeable.

Tried playing with the ASIO buffer up to 4096 among other things suggested by help desk, like increasing additional plugin buffers in the config. Nothing helped.

Windows 10 Home, Ryzen 7, 32GB RAM, SSD, GTX 1080, M-Audio Delta 44. Everything up to date, pretty fresh and clean install, just a month old.

Check your preferences>MIDI->Playback and Recording->Playback.

You may need to set your "Prepare using nnnnnn milisecond buffers up to 1280 or so.

Thanks.

Sadly it didn't help.

I don't know, got a ton of problems with Sonar since Windows 10 upgrade. This. Then my midi-keyboard vanishes 5 times per session. Then the wrong track plays via keyboard, not the one I selected. And the track that's playing has no midi inputs assigned, how does that work? Anybody else on Windows 10?

Yes.  Make sure that your real hardware drivers are installed for you devices, not some generic Windows 10 drivers.

Original M-Audio drivers are installed and active.

Try turning your buffer down to something lower like 256.

Audio buffer.

Like stated in my initial post, it doesn't help.

Do you have any automation like volume automation or mute automation on the virtual tracks?
