Bit of a mishap yesterday. Been using these Yamaha NS-10M Studio monitors since the beginning.
There are a few on ebay at near $1000 / pair
 
or what might be better a better way to go...?

How were they trashed? Like blown woofers? If so, would you be able to just get new woofers?

sever distortion, one woofer is rubbing, the other is not but still sounds bad, one tweeter is dead the other is making sound but can't judge the quality.  Wonders if the crossovers are shot too.
I've spotted tweeters online, haven't found any woofers yet. And don't really know how to test a crossover.

yeah I got them all apart now, corresponded with a re-cone guy. $125 each on the woofer, recommended doing both so they sound the same. I know I have one dead tweeter, the other reads about 7 ohms. I don't know if that means it works, but it does make sound. I don't know if replaced if one should do both for the same reason. they seem to run about 120 each.

I have a pair of NS-10MC's that I am not using if anyone wants to buy them at a reasonable (sub-$500) price.  I am using active monitors now which work better for my old ears.   I replaced a tweeter about 18 mos. ago.  Otherwise they are in original condition and seem to work fine. The only problem is shipping as I am in Hawaii.
