  • How bout a tuner module for the strip?

I use a tuner vst in a bus and then have to remember to insert a track from a template that has the send for it or remember to add the send. I park off the beaten path on my SONAR desktop. I could quick add the tuner to the fx bin
but they then tend to proliferate and some house keeping is then needed.

This got me to thinking that a tuner module in the skylight strip that is always listening to the output would be real neat.

I think I've brought this up before as well.
Expect the typical responses = Guitar rig has a built I tuner... or TH3 has a tuner.
put it in the feature request section so we can vote on it (leave a link)

I'd like to see one, great idea about the module too.

I don't know why I didn't think of just hanging a tuner off the master bus.
I did that now. Still would be nice to have a tuner in the strip

in studio one i just have a separate track set up with just the studio one tuner in my default template and when i need to tune just hit the monitor button tune up then switch off the monitor button, i just leave the mini version of the tuner expanded/open which remains visible in the fx bin to save having to actually open the plugin (I like that ability with studio ones plugs, vu meter is sweet) it's not as big as the full open plugin of course, but quite usable, does the job and saves having to actually open the plug.

Couldn't you just hang the tuner onto an aux track with no assigned output in your default template and send the signal to that from whichever track you require?

Yes, that would have a pretty simple clickstream (assign track output > tune > re-assign track output).

I use mostly guitars with G Force so tuning isn't as big a deal as it once was, but I have a tuner in the master bus for instant tuning. Assuming adequate signal level, the only limitations are:

  • If you want to tune while playing back other tracks, you need to solo the track with the instrument to be tuned.
  • If the track includes modulation- or time-based effects, you need to type E before tuning.

+ 1 for Tuner in Platinum request.

Cakewalk used to have tuner plugin with earlier versions of sonar. It may still be nested in there somewhere. I can understand the request and would use a built tuner from time to time. However, I prefer a snark type tuner. I like to tune outside of the production because of what has been mentioned above - effects and maybe a little latency from time to time interfering and typically have to stop the playback for others. Usually a little pre-tuning setup each time I check my tuning ITB. It just seems simpler for me to cut guitar volume and tune with a snark. Sorry for the drizzle of rain I'm bringing.

I would not like to see any addition to the Control Bar that does digital signal processing and creates CPU overhead.  That's not the purpose of the Control Bar.

I personally use the MTuner plugin that is part of MeldaProduction's Free Plugin Bundle or use a Roland external tuner for non-amplified instruments.

I understand your concern about cpu hit. It should be on unless the transport is running or if that's too automatic then an on off [x] in it's corner should suffice.
