Seriously! Why can't I just right-click on a MIDI track and find a "Set MIDI Output Channel" or something as intuitive as that? I've seen references to a mysterious "Ch" button, but I can't find hide nor hair of such a thing. It's not on the MixStrip, not in the Console View, nowhere.

Could someone please help? Thanks.

See if this helps.  I don't use SHS, but hopefully you have the track inspectors.  In SONAR Plat, pressing 'I' opens the Inspector.

From my experience, you don't normally send MIDI Output to a track, you send it to a Synth.
The Synth should then output to an Audio track.

Yes, thanks. The Inspector is what I called the MixStrip, which is actually a button at the top of the Inspector to show/hide the right panel of the Inspector.

Now I remember seeing that 'C' button before, but it's not visible anywhere.  The Channel/Bank/Patch buttons are gone. Not in Console View either. Is there some configuration item I'm missing? So frustrating being stuck on such a simple function.

Slug,

In this case it's MIDI events being sent to an external MIDI controller. No audio or VST involved. I just want to set the track to output the events to a particular MIDI channel on the external controller. Thanks.

Ugh! Found it.

"Display" Drop-down menu at bottom of Inspector. Select "Send/Bank/Patch". Buttons appear.

Thanks guys.

BobF has pointed to the right direction, but more precisely you should try to find:
http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=Inspectors.3.html#1220713
Figure 256, section "C". Here you can see "C None" combo and that is exactly what you are looking for.
When not set (default), MIDI events are sent to the output "as is", including the channel (that is always a part of event). There are several method to change it, but you are absolutely right that the simplest way is just instruct Sonar output everything with specified for the track channel.

PS Sorry, was too long searching for the documentation/pictures/videos which are Home studio specific (and not found any...)
