• SONAR
  • Too many project's versions in the smart screen

Everytime I'm making significant changes on a project, I save this last version of the project.
In the smart screen all the versions remain and are visible.
In this way the smart screen contains the images or icons of all the versions and those of other different projects making the sceen full and confused.
Is it possible to eliminate or to hide the older versions except maybe the penultimate?
Any help?

Sorry, I am not going to be at all helpful here... Smart Screen is something I disabled a long time ago.

If there was a downvote button for my reply, I'd press it myself...

cheers

The only suggestion I have is to pin only the most recent versions, and then call them up. The unpinned versions will drop off the list.

What the Start Screen needs is a favorites list. This would allow the user to maintain a list of projects independent of the list managed by Windows and SONAR.

When the Start Screen was introduced I did not care for it and wrote my own SONAR LaunchPad. While the Start Screen has improved quite a bit, I still mostly use LaunchPad. There are a few areas that could use improvement but it does have a favorites list and the ability to delete projects from the registry (which also removes them from the Start Screen). Before writing LaunchPad I created a script for another user to manage the registry entries. Both the LauchPad and Recent File Maintenance are available on the SONAR Resource and Utilities page.

Other than that, creating versions at the OS level and only working on one project name will avoid the issue of redundant project names in the Start Screen.

Agree with pinning projects in the Smart Screen.
I have done this since it was introduced. Just made sense to me..
All the best.

As soon as I save a project as a new Rev, I bring up the Smart Screen, unpin the old revision, and pin the new version. Works for me.

Ok for pinning. I obviousely did that every time on the last version. But the old ones remain on the sceen only to create confusion..

Because of the danger of opening a back up version of the same project. I always open from the File menu.
Not a fan of the start menu.

If you are saving a copy of the project simply as a backup, then it is better to make a copy of the file using Windows Explorer. That way it won't appear in the Recent Files lists.
