I recently discovered step sequencer and have found it useful for drum programming, but it's playback is very unstable. Sometimes it plays and sometimes not. If the drums stops then I can stop the playback and start again and they will be fine. Sometime it starts a pattern at the wrong time. This happens during normal playback along with my other tracks. If I just press the play buttin in the sequencer window there's no problems. Anybody else have had these issues ?

I have not used it that much but I have not had those issues.

Which version of Sonar are you using and what plugin?

To stop dropping notes try increasing the "Prepare Using nnn Millisecond Buffers" in Preferences > MIDI > Playback and Recording from 250 to 500 or 750

In the Sequencer window, the play will always the sequencer in a loop.

In the transport bar, unless you've set loop recording, it play continuously, bar after bar, so it leaves the step sequencer behind. Depending on how you have set up the stop button it will either stop, or return to the 'now time'. If the 'Now Time' is in the middle of the sequencer play position, it will rewind to the middle of the pattern.

I have started to notice that when I have a SS start on the very first note of the project, that note will get dropped. I will try to see if scook's idea works.

Thanks for the inof. All of this happening is compeletely random though. The odd thing is that it never happens when exporting the whole audio.

I don't use battery much these days but will try tomorrow to see if I can reproduce the issue.

been a problem for years.  no one responded ever to many people complaining about it.

Now that I can believe. I guess I will have to finish my editing and the choose "bounce to clips". Then there's no issue, but then of course I loose the ability to edit in the sequencer.

yup, i always have to then convert back to step sequencer if i need to use it again.  really annoying.   its simply broken as is a lot of thier MIDI stuff.   feature enhancements are great, but what about FIXING the actual MIDI implementation!
