Thanx Sharke for that tip.  I saved 33GB.

Thanx Blade for your tip.  I'm gonna try this as soon as  I'm done here.

Yes, I got a PM about it so I will post my reply with the steps here.

The name of the new location could be any valid path. In this example I am assuming the default location of "C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Command Center\Downloads" and a new location of "D:\Cakewalk\Command Center\Downloads"

FYI, ProgramData is a hidden directory.

1. Create the new location "D:\Cakewalk\Command Center\Downloads"
2. Move the contents from "C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Command Center\Downloads" to "D:\Cakewalk\Command Center\Downloads"
3. Delete "C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Command Center\Downloads"
4. run cmd.exe as administrator
5. type
mklink /j "C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Command Center\Downloads" "D:\Cakewalk\Command Center\Downloads"

Okay, so I believe I've successfully followed these steps and everything seems to still be working fine on my system.

One question, after creating that junction, do I still have to change the Download Path within CCC to the new D: drive location? Or can I leave it as the default and the junction will automatically download new updates to the new location?

That is one of the reasons to use a directory junction. No other changes are needed. As far as the programs are concerned nothing has changed. The OS will automatically handle the details of the physical location of the files.

Good to know. Thank you, scook! I freed up about 30 GB from my SSD C: drive doing this. Cheers!

I'll be darn.  26 Gigabytes for me, too.  Nice to recover that space.  Thank you.

So, if it all can be re-downloaded and CCC will "get it", then once it's been installed, that folder is for rollbacks only?
Mine is showing 74Gb in properties and I am perfectly fine with deleting some of that! LOL

Other than say, the last 3 updates, what else "ought to be saved"?

I'm not quite sure why the "backup" is "required", if CCC can "fetch it back" if need be. I do have room on another drive, but 74 Gb? I haven't rolled back yet.

Rollback and Re-installs.

I save everything but do not let that be your guide. Yes, the Command Center will download files as needed as long as the Command Center is working and the files are available for download.  While that is convenient it is not enough assurance for me that it will work when I need it.

I rarely rollback too but I have X2,X3 and 2016-03 through 2017-03 installed, ready to run. All on a 250GB SSD with other apps and room to spare.

Thanks Steve. I too, have X1 X2 X3 etc on both my desktop and laptop.
Since there's almost 67Gb on my laptop and I think I'll have to move it/link or thin the "herd" some.

Remember the files can be manually added and removed from the Command Center cache. If you have an archiving system, move any or all the files to it. Copy them back when you need them. The Command Center looks in the cache before starting a download. If the files are in cache, it goes straight to install, skipping the download step.

That's a good idea! I can keep one "set" on the desktop's backup drive and copy whatever I might (ever?) need for the laptop. Thanks!
