Hi All,
I downloaded the Sonar Platinum demo and now want to uninstall. The problem is that this programme is using a file that is stopping me re-installing Sonar LE X1
Try as I might, I cant delete this programme.
Suggestions will be most welcome, and thanks in advance

kill it in task manager.
What file ? something is still open and running. try unplugging your audio interface/if you have one.

Your easiest uninstall would be to use system restore if you have that enabled. There should be a restore point created when the demo was installed.

I don't understand how a Splat file can stop you installing a separate product.

Which file is it ? Have you tried un-locking it or neutralising it with this then un-installing :

System restore, IIRC (and here i may be wrong) only restores Windows system files, no ?

Cheers,
Jerry

Anything installed by the Command Center should be uninstalled with the Command Center. Right-click on the Demo in the Command Center for the uninstall option. The command Center itself is managed by the Windows Control Panel Programs and Features. You may wish to completely start over with Cakewalk, here is the kb article on how to perform a clean install of All Cakewalk products http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013372/Clean-Install-All-Cakewalk-Software. Note: step one in this case uses the Command Center to remove the demo.

Scook, that did the trick thanks very much

Despite re-installing Sonar LE X1 about half-a-dozen times, it fails to download the 'soft synths'. Despite the Custom installation menu tick box indicating their installations...Zilch

Just not had a great experience with Sonar LE X1...
Nevertheless Thanks and good luck to all

As we said in the other thread Jock, You will be miles ahead with Home Studio over X1LE. It's only $50 and from there you can easily upgrade if you feel you need the added features.

Two huge reasons,
1-You really don't want to be stuck with 32 bit which X1 LE is.
2-It was based on a bug ridden version of Sonar which did not become fully resolved until X3e.

As we said, it's easy to bolster up HS with the addition of the many free plug ins and VST instruments available if you want more stuff.

Think you're right Johnny V, As before, I got Sonar El X1 chucked in with a Roland Tri-Capture, the pack was only £70 so not expensive. I checked and the price I'm getting is £50 for Home Studio so I'm going to go for that.

For me it's a bit of a mine-field as I've really only been used to the older recording methods.
Best to All
