Hi folks

I have been using music creator for a while now but only using audio files. I have been trying to get to grips with midi but I am having a problem. I open up a midi track and although the volume slider is moving up and down I have tried using the piano roll but I can not hear a thing.

If it helps at all I am using ASIO and I have audiophile 2496 m-audio.

It does not help that I have lost the instruction booket that came with the software.

Many thanks for any help.

Edit, Oops I am using music creator 6

There are tutorials on using instruments here that demonstrate using MIDI in MC

With midi, you are recording data. You must then send that data to a synth which is in an audio track. Midi out to synth in and that synth will play the music.

Insert a soft synth in an open audio track's FX bin. The synth GUI will open and you need to select a sample to play or a patch to use, depending on the synth. Cakewalk Sound Center starts with a default preloaded sample.  In the midi track inspector, click on the midi track output and choose the Cakewalk sound center and you should be able to hear music on playback.

Right. The default symthesizer is usually the Microsoft GS Wavetable synth, but that won't work when using ASIO.
You'll need to insert a software synthethizer or send the MIDI data to a hardware synth (a MIDI keyboard or sound module) for it to be heard.
