I've been running X1 Producer, with good performance, but lately, the progress bar in the timeline is lagging during the recording and playback sessions... There is NO LAG in the MIDI i've recorded nor the audio/MIDI input level meter... and sometimes, there is a lag on playback too...

I keep restarting both my keyboard/X1 again and again, and all of a sudden it gets ok... and again after sometime in a different session its starts back to be the same... Plz help me, am so frustrated on this...

Have you inadvertently pressed the Pause key?

lol no...

the lag is like... the progress bar is moving like say snap, its on the 1st measure... then snap... on the 2nd measure... then snap on the 2 1/2 measure... like this... hope you understood... and its not like moving continuously...

its like, in gaming language, "i am playing with 5 FPS for the games recommended for 60 FPS "

No, seriously, have you accidently pushed the PAUSE key?

From the help file:

"SONAR has a CPU conservation mode that reduces the number of GUI updates with no effect on actual playback quality and rendering. This maximizes CPU resources for the audio engine and can be useful while playing projects that consume a lot of CPU, to help avoid dropouts.
Like the Scroll Lock key, the Pause key now works as a special GUI throttle toggle key. When the Pause key is pressed, SONAR runs in a CPU conservation mode by reducing the frequency of GUI updates. For example, VU meter updates, Now position pointer and progress updates will appear to update less frequently.
During CPU conservation mode, the UI is only updated once per second."

no i havent... the pause key is away from me to be accidentally pressed...

but the case from the helpfile is similar in respect to, "with no effect on actual playback quality and rendering"... actually the only lag is in the display...

so, i never knew about scroll key, but still wouldnt have pressed it...   just now was compiling a song and nothing happened... so next time it happens i'll check with that scroll key

And the pause key.

When was the last time you cleared out your picture cache?

That was a good catch.....I don't think I ever pushed the PAUSE key however I was also getting a stuttering in the UI (User Interface) I pushed PAUSE and what it caused is different than what I was seeing however when I pushed it again (to turn it off) I now have no stuttering in the UI.

thanks...Bristol_Jonesey & Stickman393

Great Info I did'nt know that.  I may need that someday, I will make a note.

You know there could be a problem with Hardware or curruption with drivers, program file, or even Sonar or Windows - If this just started happening out of the blue.

As long as the problem is happening to all you Project files you could rule out a corrupted project (as long as you did not save on top of the original currupted project file)

My first step would be a total wipe of the C: drive using a "disk image" backup created when things were OK.  This would be the fastest test to rule out Program Curruption and Drivers.

Then we get into a mess when were talking about a hardware issue it could really be any thing Sound Card, Video
Card Mother Board who knows and to be honest I would not want to advise in that case because my knowledge on  hardware failures is very limited "$$ Knock on wood"

I hope this helps you for what its worth.

Ps.  Make sure you back up all your projects and custom folders/presets  or anything you can think of if you choose to wipe your Hard Drive.

Sorry but I needed to mention to make sure you back up all your data onto another seperate drive if you decide to format/wipe you system drive.  (you probally already knew this).  Also, you could wait a little longer to see other ideas if it sounds a little over the top for you.  Also, try cleaning your picture cache folder as mentioned by previous poster.
