Okay so I make the midis in an external program.  I import the giant midi composition and everything gets its own instrument track when I import them.
 
I even assign synths for every instrument separately, but only 1 or 2 of the actual midi files plays back, but the rest of the channels all have something going through because their levels are going up when each note passes by, which tells me the information is being passed through.
 
i'm assuming it's me doing something wrong.
 
Can someone walk me through how to get these midi tracks to work step by step?  Because what I am doing isn't working right.

Which Music Creator program are you using?
What synths are you using?
Tell us about your computer; OS, 32- or 64-bit, etc.
Most importantly, what sound card or audio inerface are you using?

Music Creator 6
The included Synth (either the cakewalk sound creator one or the strings one depending on the instrument I want)
PC, 64 bit, I use my Toneport as an external sound card because sound blasters stink.
The inferface doesn't matter in this case.
 
I am not performing these pieces.
 
I am taking a midi file and importing it.
 
It isn't playing through the software, or some of it plays through the software, i'm assuming it's a routing problem, but i don't have any idea how midi signal flow works in this program because all I've been using is Pro Tools, and this program doesn't seem to work that way, but it has nicer instruments to choose from than the stock protools ones

Okay. The Toneport is your audio interface. Which model is it?
Did you download and install the latest drivers for it and for your operating system?
What are your audio settings under Prefefrences in MC 6? What Driver Mode are you using?

It's the UX1.  It works for Pro Tools just fine when I do midi in there, so unless music creator has a prejudice towards the Toneport UX1 or something (which is a possibility, some DAW's are very particular of what interfaces it will let people use) I don't think it's that.
 
According to Line6 Monkey everything is up to date including the firmware.  I checked that long before I asked here.  I am well aware that the interface could've been the issue, but i still think it's some kind of routing issue.
 
I use ASIO drivers because the Toneport comes with them, and Music Creator is compatible with it so I don't have to use an outside ASIO source to do it.  So it's using output 1 (the only output on a Toneport UX1) as its stereo out, and input 1 as its input.
