Raising buffer levels was the first thing I tried but the dropouts still continued.

Midi buffers?
Prefs > MIDI > Playback and Recording > Prepare using xxx Millisecond Buffers

Look on the Computer Sub forum for a thread about the update. I myself will remain "unplugged" from the internet until the smoke clears,,, just like the last update. MS is determined to build an OS that serves the status quo but forces us to waist hours and hours fixing all it breaks.

I work for a health authority and we have thousands of PC's. They just upgraded all the CPU's, monitor's etc. The tech say's the plan is to stay W7 for at least another 5 years. W10 would be a disaster for our huge network and security. Not only that, most of the medical equipment that uses drivers. like in imaging, would stop working.
A DAW is like a business computer in many ways, I would return to W7 on my DAW at the drop of a hat if things go sideways with W10.

I raised both MIDI and ASIO and I still would get dropouts.

How do you roll back the windows update? Is it with system restore points?  Is there another way?

There are a few ways to get it done but this is how I did it:

Start > Settings > Update & Security > Update history > Uninstall updates > "To uninstall an update, select it from the list and then click Uninstall or Change"

That's how I did it.
Hope that helps.

It's why I refuse to use Windows 10. Its updates implementation is not for me. Still on windows 8.1 which is fine.

Hi. It seems I keep having the same trouble with Win 10 creators update.
When checking that all programs run smooth, my Sonar Professional had dropouts when trying to export a mix (complete arrangement). It happened always at the same time point, so I suppose it has to do with one of the VStIs, a Roland synth. This starts playing 2 mins after beginning of the piece, when the bouncing gets there audio engine stops. I cannot close Sonar. Only way is by clicking on the X, and say close anyway. An error report is being sent but only to Microsoft. I'd love to find that one to relay it to the tech support @ Calekwalk for possible fixing (awaiting next update by end of April).
Thankx.

If your dropout issue wasn't happening prior to the update, try rolling back to the prior Windows 10 version. If the update created the issue than you have isolated the problem.
Stay rolled back.
Hope that helps!
