  • Easier Way To Insert Aux Track?

Is there another way way to insert an Aux track without having to insert it via the insert send? Be nice if there was an option added to the insert menu.

As a side note, a big thanks to Cakewalk for the new updates of late, great improvements :-)

An aux track is nothing more than a special case of an audio track using a patch point as its input.

Not really sure how to use the Aux tracks in this scenario. Could you use to say send the same track to a front and rear reverb convolution and return it to the track before sending out to the bus or master channel. I will experiment.

I know what the OP means and I too was wondering why there is no direct "Insert new aux track" option and it is only possible to insert a new aux track while changing a track output or inserting a send. Really though, it's not a big deal and doesn't take any more mouse clicks overall than a direct method would.

As a track template you can just drag out of the browser?

An aux track is the same as any other track. The difference is the input. The input is a patch point, which is usually associated with a send. So you can basically insert it via a send or you can build it the opposite way by inserting a track and setting the input to a send (i.e. patch point)

Thank for all the replies. Use them a lot for sends, easy enough. Use them as group buses too, just be nice to have a quick option to insert an Aux track, like you can with buses, midi and audio tracks :-)

With 2 clicks, you can get a new Aux track:
Right click on the track you want to send from, hover over Insert Send, and click on New Aux Track.

I don't think you can add anything quicker than that.

EDIT:  You might be able to create a keyboard shortcut for adding a new Aux.  THAT would be even quicker.

Yeah, I don't really understand how you could want it quicker than that

You can also route a tracks output to a new or existing aux track from the original tracks output menu.  One click.
