So does "Sort Tracks" just not work anymore?
 
It's been several versions now.   It just does nothing.

All aspects of Track Sorting work fine here. Are doing a Select All first? (If you have The Big Book of SONAR Tips, check out "Track Sorting" on page 54.)

Tracks> Sort tracks... is working OK here in SONAR 22.12.0 Build 12.
 
No track selections are required unless you click the Selected radio button in the Sort by list and want the selected tracks grouped together.

Yep, works fine here as well.

OK so it doesn't work for "OUTPUT" or "INPUT"

and... 
 
doesnt work at all on Simple Instrument tracks. :(

Sort by Name works OK here for Simple Instrument tracks.  Sort by Output worked OK also.  The Sort Track... dialog does not offer an Input option.
 
Sort by Name with 3 Simple Instrument tracks mixed with 4 MIDI only tracks.

I have the latest SONAR build and track sort doesn't work for me at all. None of the options do anything. I can't say when it broke as I never tried it before.

I also register on the not-working side.  Attempts to sort on channel appear to do nothing, but when I attempt to select any of the "sorted" tracks, it becomes apparent that the app is actively trying to complete the sort process.  It's still running as I type this, like a sick version of the tic-tac-toe session in war games.  Admittedly, I have not used this feature since the 12-tone days of cakewalk.  I haven't found a way to recover the session outside of a reboot.  This would be helpful for cleaning up some of my older projects that I comped with way-to-many tracks.

I was disappointed that this feature is missing from Home Studio. Seems silly to remove a basic feature. That and the selecting the global midi or audio output, a feature I use a lot. 

Sort tracks stopped working. Hangs up my system. I'm using the latest version of Platinum...23.30 build 51..in Windows 7, 64 bit.
 
I've been using Sort Tracks for years with no problems.
 
I thought that perhaps the file was corrupt, but sort tracks does not work in a new file.
 
Any help would be appreciated.
