I read something about after August 28th, the lifetime updates come with CA-2A for free.  Is that correct?  I just purchased lifetime upgrades about 2 weeks ago. . . would I be eligible to get the plugin?

I haven't seen anything about that but that would definitely be a nice addition to the stock PC bundle. I bought it on sale ages ago for something ridiculous like $20 then again when they released the VST version (as an upgrade which was another $20 IIRC and I used some free "Cake Bucks" to do that so it cost me nothing).

It has been one of the most useful and sweetest sounding plugs I have. I use it at the end (or near the end) of my track chains and busses as a flavorator/special sauce type thing. Just something REALLY nice about it and it's wicked easy to use (which is why, I'm guessing, the original hardware unit is a staple in most pro studios).

So if this is indeed true... congrats to those who didn't have it already. If this ISN'T true then I would highly urge anyone who doesn't have it yet to watch for it to go on special and snag it.

NO I do not work for Cakewalk nor do I have any gain (financial or otherwise) to say that. It is just that freaking sweet and cost effective.

Of course there are other emus of that same unit (LA2A) that reportedly are even NICER but from what I've seen those emus cost much more for only a slight improvement (if that).

Cheers.

Personally I prefer the CA2A to the Waves version and the NI/Softube version. I hear the IK Multimedia one is good and obviously the UAD one but I still think that's a very fair score for CW. Recommend!

You may be referring to this offer at Musician's Friend ?  :

Cakewalk SONAR Platinum

"Free with Purchase until: 09/30/16
 CA-2A T-Type Leveling Amplifier"

[ I wonder how they can offer this until the end of September ...]

I will say a picutre of the Pro-Channel module has been in Sonar's advertising for a number of months and I find it to be rather misleading it doesn't even come with Plat.

Right there on the start page.  Right out front:

http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR#start

(and there is a Softube plug that doesn't come with it either)

To add to the confusion, it also states this:
"Lifetime updates now available: When you purchase SONAR Platinum today, you will receive every new core feature, enhancement, and even fixes for all future versions of SONAR. Offer ends August 31st, 2016."

... Which would suggest that while the Lifetime Upgrades offer ends on Aug 31, you can still get the CA-2A plugin free with a Sonar Plat purchase until Sept 30.

Is the CA-2A a real Cakewalk plugin or one of those partner ones.  The difference is the licensing. Sonar doesn't have a machine limit.
