Widow's walk...
We got one of them here as they call it. Only never understood the meaning til recently.
Thin walkway on a second floor, way above ground with no safety nets below. Certain death if you fall over trying to wash a window or repair something. Thought it was called the widows walk because the guy would fall off, kill himself leaving the wife a widow. Braved this too many times with jello knees to count.
Seems like it was a safer walkway where the wives of sailors would pace looking at the horizon, waiting for the uncertain return of their husbands. Still doesn't make me any more less terrified when I got to be out there.
