Sorry, I guess I'm not being clear. When I first installed Sonar years ago, the plug ins were there. They disappeared a few weeks ago when I did a clean reinstall from the same disk. I am using the default scan path as far as I can tell.

A vst reset clears the registry and rescans the paths defined in Preferences > File > VST Settings
Are the plug-ins actually in those paths? Are you using the default scan path entries?

was "VST reset" available in sonar X1 ?
Hmm, been a while I thought reset didn't start until X2.

There is something missing in this story. For one, why would you perform a clean install if SONAR was working OK?
Is the scanner still running in memory? If so, reboot and rescan.

Long time no here is the reason. I was having the same problems a week ago when I come back to use Sonar X3 Producer.  I think, the newer vrsion need to make use of the soft-synth track which need not to be bordered some time before.

+1

I remember this thread a month ago:

You didn't really say what fixed your issue.

A little more info goes a long way. Like when you say FX... do you mean all of them ?

I mean the stuff is on the disk, isn't it? So why isn't it on the PC I wonder. Oh well -- thanks anyway.

How many disks ?
You just reinstalled Sonar correct ? so how many disks did you use to reinstall sonar ?

If it is a continuation of that thread, it may be the OP is looking for some old 32bit DX plug-ins after installing the 64bit version of X1. Possibly the old install was 32bit.

Hey everyone...

Yes, this is a continuation of the old thread, because as far as I know, this part of the question wasn't addressed. I might have missed it, of course.

Yes, VST Reset is available in X1 Producer.

I did a clean reinstall because I installed a third party plug in which I didn't like, and in the process of installing that and then removing it, I screwed things up badly, and I couldn't finish editing and mixing the tracks I had recorded. A straight reinstall didn't fix things, so I had to do a clean reinstall.

The clean reinstall fixed my other issues, and everything worked fine except when I recently got to the final mix stage, where the effects I had relied on for so long were gone.

Which ones? Everything under "Sonar FX." All the Sonitus and Cakewalk and the other effects are there, but not any of the Sonar FX.

One single disk is all I have.

My computer is 32 bit, but after I finish this CD, I'm upgrading to a 64 bit. Could this be the problem? Might I mistakenly have installed a 64 bit when I have a 32 bit system? It seems odd to me that this is the only thing that doesn't work right, since everything else is OK.

As you can tell, I'm not real great on the tech issues here, but I've recorded multiple CD with my system, some of which got some national recognition, but that's certainly not because of my great expertise with Sonar or computers generally, so I'm sorry if I'm not being as clear as would be helpful. I'm really struggling to keep up with this thread, so -- thanks to everybody who's trying to help me out and for your patience.

Maybe the mystery "third party plug in" modified something SONAR depends on such as one of the MS C++ Redistributable libraries. Maybe it is just a coincidence. I don't know.

The plug-ins mentioned here are all DX plug-ins. The VST scanner does not have anything to do with them. Usually when these fail to install correctly the SONAR install throws a message like Unable to register the DLL/OCX: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x3. This error is often due to pending updates for the OS but I am not sure with a version of SONAR that is this old. Other than that, I have never heard of the DX plug-ins not showing up in SONAR.

This is not possible. 64bit SONAR will not install on a 32bit OS.

There were 3 disks all together.
Disk 1 was Sonar X1 and disks 2-3 were more plug ins (rapture, Dim pro, exc)
Have you installed the X1 updates ?
