Just get a copy of Sonar Power, it tells you everything you need to know, with that book and a little common sense, you really don't need to pay big bucks for a course..And don't forget to experiment alot, it's your studio you don't need to watch the clock....Scott Garrigus rocks!!!!!

Norrie,

In addition to the Sonar Help and User's Guide, don't overlook the Sonar 8.5 Reference Guide.pdf file that comes with Sonar 8.5. It is a 25 MB PDF file that contains 1576 pages of detailed Sonar information. IMO, it is far more useful than the User's Guide.

There are also some very good free videos that are referenced on the first page of the Sonar Producer & Studio Forum pages (e.g., Sonar: Master Class - Drum Production Episode I) that are excellent. There are some user produced videos on YouTube that illustrate various Sonar capabilities that can be quite useful too.

Good luck and have fun with your Sonar adventure.

Regards,
bbent

I took a good class at a local community college.  The course probably cost $100 for a full 16-week semester.  I suspect the cost has gone up with the economic problem in California.

It was an audio recording class, but it featured Sonar 6.  Not only did I switch from Cubase Home, I eventually upgraded to Sonar 7.  Now I have 8.5 waiting to get installed.

I went to a community/adult learning college in London who were offering courses in music tech and production and asked them what software they used and Sonar was not one of them Reason, Logic, Protools and Cubase is pretty much what you'll find in the UK although that was about 6 years ago so I rekon Albleton and maybe even Reaper will be on offer now.
When I asked about Sonar they said, no but if you're interested in running courses your self then please do feel free :)

Of course another on line education in sonar and all things to do with music production is right here on this very forum, trouble is you'll find equal amounts of conjecture along side, "and often disguised", as fact :(

Anybody out there aware of  an in-person type training course  that exists in or around the Daytona Beach, Edgewater Florida area? The closer to Edgewater the better!
