Well, all I can say is you guys did a real fine job on Real Fine Love.  Seriously- excellent performances all the way around, and Ed totally nailed the mix from what I could hear.

You chose a very good song to cover.  JH is one of the more underrated songwriters around.  This version packs a punch and then some.  It sound radio ready, so kudos to all involved!

Excellent song! The music is great with a great sounding guitar solo. Vocals are great in the chorus but pitchy all over the place in the verses. Maybe by design? Anyway, a great effort by all.

I have never heard of John Hiiat, so I cannot say how close this is or not. It is not bad, but I found it a little loose in both the playing and vocals. Knowing the skill level of the folks innvolved, I suspect that might be coming down to the mix.

I agree with the harshness comment by you know who. The mix seems a little lowfi. I kept turning it up expecting some energy to come from it, but it got too loud before that happend.

Ed, I hope you do not think I am beating up on you. I really am not trying to. I was actually really was hoping it would be great and not have to say anything. But I would not be completely honest if I simply said "good job". You are not some fly by night smuck dropping through to fan your glory. You're Bapu. You deserve the truth.

I have never heard of John Hiiat,

I think you need to broaden your horizons a bit Shad...

I went and listened to a few of his seminal recordings and while the voice is vaguely familiar, none of the songs were. I am by no means the worlds expert on music, but it surprises me that I am not familiar with his work.

Hi Shad, here's one of the tunes that became a big seller:

Nope, never heard that either... I am beginning to wonder if I have been stuck on a desert island for the last 40 years.
