I never paste audio files, so was unaware that you couldn't do that unless the file was already at the right sample rate. The solution is to use the File -> Import feature rather than drag 'n drop. SONAR will then handle any necessary conversion, whether 48 KHz to 44.1 KHz, 16-bit to 32-bit, or even MP3 to Wave.
