  • [SOLVED] Had to log back into Command Centre to verify registration

Hi Peeps,

Just started up SPlat for an evening session and I was asked to log into Command Centre in order to "verify product registration."

That has never happened before.

I always thought that, once registered, that was it, you no longer had to verify ownership of Sonar again.

So, why now?

Further to that, when I started Command Centre I had to re-enter my password to get into it. That, also, has never happened in all the time I have been using Command Centre. I logged way back when it was first brought into play, and I have never had to log in since, until tonight.

What if I wasn't connected to the internet? Would I not be able to use Sonar until I was able to verify registration? A bit worrying that, because I am often not connected to the internet, sometimes for many days, if I am out and about with my mobile studio.

I am wondering if I should have simply shut down the alert box that popped up, to see if I was still able to at least run Sonar. But I went ahead and clicked on the "click here" button, which took me to Command Centre.

AND

While typing this, I went into Command Centre to check something and it is now saying "You don't have any products," even though I am clearly logged in (my user name is visible top right and the "green light" is on.

Very strange indeed...

I had to log out of Command Centre, and log back in again in order to see my products.

Thought it might be a good time to update to the March build while I was at it...

Possibly Windows 10 update making CCC think it's on a new computer?

I have just had the same thing happen to me.

Ah, thanks John, I didn't realise a Windows 10 update was incoming. That might well be it.

Still a bit strange though, because I have been on Windows 10 for a while now and there must have been loads of updates. I remember there was a particularly large one last year where you had to go through all the privacy settings again, and that didn't cause any issues with Sonar or Command Centre.

I'm up and running anyway...

I won't mark this as solved just yet, or mark you post as "best answer," just in case any of the Cakewalk Peeps venture in here with an explanation.

cheers

Hi Guys,

A bunch of sessions expired today. If your session expires you have to log back in to Command Center.

Shouldn't affect authorization status or product ownership or anything. SONAR most likely was just alerting you that Command Center was installed but you weren't logged into it because of the expired session. Why would it need to check again if you're authorized? Well, if you're paying monthly a new payment might have been submitted that would bump your membership end date out. So, for SONAR to be aware, it has to communicate.

If you're already authorized though, it won't de-authorize you.

If you're offline, it also shouldn't pop up any toast notifications asking you to log in.

Hope that helps clear up any concern.

Best,

Thanks Ryan,

I signed up for lifetime updates, does Sonar still have to periodically check that too?

Like I said, this has never happened before.

cheers, and thanks,

Hi Andy,

Yes, SONAR doesn't store anything about your purchase history so it will periodically communicate with our services to find out if any new information is available.

It's normal that it might not have happened before. We anticipated this question might come up with expiring sessions today so I wasn't exactly shocked to see your post.

Sorry for any potential stress! :)
