Can't get it working as a VSTi. Works fine in stand-alone mode outside of Sonar.

Thanks for any assistance.

Works fine for me, what is wrong? Are they not detected at all or do you not get sound or what?

Kontakt works here too...always has. Make sure the plug-in is in a folder that SONAR is scanning. Also consider doing a VST reset and rescan, and use the Plug-In Manager to verify that Kontakt is in whatever plug-in layout you're using.

It works for me as well. How are you trying to add it to the project?

Thank you for the quick replies. It's like the Calvary has arrived! Here's my current state:

-- I insert Kontakt 5 player as a soft synth. "Simple Instrument Track" selected. No problem.

- I open Kontakt Player Interface by clicking on the track's little keyboard icon. Works great.

- I Load Orange Tree Sample's Evolution Steel Strings in the Kontakt rack. I can trigger Kontakt's integrated virtual keyboard with my mouse. and I can see and hear signal going into the simple instrument track I inserted. So there's signal flow happening from within Kontakt player.

- Problem seems to be getting my MIDI keyboard to connect with Kontakt plug-in. There's no indication of signal flow. I can see MIDI data indicator on a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 reacting as receiving data from my midi keyboard. The input on my Kontakt simple instrument track is set to Scarlett 2i4 USB Midi Omni, but there is no reaction at all.

Got it figured out! The problem was I had set my "MIDI local control" setting on my keyboard to "off." I thought that was the right thing. Obviously not. I set it back to "on" and voila, everything's working!

Now, it just need to figure out the cracks/pops i'm getting. Thanks everyone for the offer to help!

Close SONAR and re-start, then click the Record and Input Echo buttons. Any luck?

the cracks and pops are probably a sign that your buffer settings are too low.
Someone at their DAW (or with a better memory than I) can point to it exactly, but it's in Edit/Preferences.

And remembering to switch things to on... that type of error is why we still need pros sometimes!
