I haven't used 8.5 in years...  what did it do differently in regards to the track strips themselves

Hey Steve.
One that comes to mind is there is no more text background color options. I find that having the background of track names a contrasting color helps focus on the name.

Also, on clips, where they took away the global foreground colors (i.e.:black).
Yes, you can do it in the inspector. Not the same thing.

Ah...   I think the track name text background can be changed in the Theme Editor, but not completely sure.   For clips, yeah, that's a whole different thang...

Not sure if this is what you are asking, but in the new PRV, if you have autolock on, all the tracks except the selected one will be in grey. Turn autolock off and you'll see all the tracks colours.

Thanks, but no, that's not what I am asking. If I set the track colours (I was wanting to change the Track Strip colour, at least, but whataver) then the new PRV can be made to show the track colours. To me this is important because in the track list now I want to know what is MIDI, Audio Synth etc and use colours to do that.

But my problem is even with Mercury, trying to set track colours according to the way I had successfully done it before is not working and I reckon I lost all my track colours when I updated to 2017.03 (I think it is). I had them so Audio tracks were one colour, MIDI another Synth another. I also had track name text set by colours the same way.

The best I have done after repeated efforts is to ask for Audio Track Text colour to be red, only to find that the Audio Track _Strip_ comes up red....but then changing the Audio Track Text colour to be greeen still leaves Audio Track strips red.

SO what I begging someone to do is either say "It's a mess and needs fixing", or lay out the steps I should be doing to make Audio tracks text, strips or something, the colour I ask for. I know I have done this before with success at least in certain areas. Now I cannot make it work even in Mercury. I have asked SONAR support and got frustrating, stock replies.

So you are saying that it fails as I am describing? It does not respond?

Or are you just "patting" me?

Sorry I have had so little replies and Cakewalk "support" has been so .......front porch...I have trouble believing I am actually right and it's stuffed.

I'm just saying It's a mess and needs fixing. "It" referring to 'colors'.
Their idea of a fix is to offer a 3rd party accessory (theme editor) that you need a Phd in photoshop to use..

Hmmm....thank you....so it's not just me. Wow. If you think a 3rd party solution is poor then you should try to ask for "support" on this. It's like talking to a rabid dog. It makes no sense. It's as if the person replying can speak, but not hear, English.

This could be the worst thing about Cakewalk ever. They have gone phone company. Spill out "updates" that are damaged, then have "support" crew that are inattentive crap....seriously. Shark in the pool?
