  • Using the Roland Integra-7 with Sonar Platinum (p.6)

I realize that this is a dormant thread, but as I am trying to incorporate my Integra-7 with my Sonar Platinum, I'd like to add my $0.02 and point out an issue that I am experience.

As far as AUDIO, the Integra-7 works flawlessly with Sonar Platinum with one caveat - since the Integra becomes the AUDIO DEVICE, my headphones have to be plugged into the Integra. (In order to return the audio to my desktop monitors, I switch back to my Tascam audio interface.)

The Roland INTEGRA-7 Editor (Ver.2) works well in my setup (providing I set the DEVICE to "Integra CTRL") and I can call up all of the sounds (SuperNatural, PCM-S, PCM-D and the Expansion Packs). I can assign the any of the sounds to my 16 PARTS (which would correspond to my Sonar Tracks) and I can play the sounds with my keyboard controller.

Here is where I hit a wall - as soon as I start playback in Sonar, the screen on the Integra displays "INIT Studio" and all of the PART/INSTRUMENT assignments have been cleared! (I saw nothing in the EVENTS window that would cause this and no SysEx data is being sent.) I sit here today (040717) trying to figure this out on my own, but may have to put in a Ticket with Roland Support (who have been very quick to respond and quite helpful on everything I've asked so far).

The Integra-7 is a fantastic device (I use it every Sunday in the church orchestra) with amazing flexibilities (I send my Keyboard Controlled Sounds to the sound board on OUTPUT PAIR "A" and the EWI-5000 Controlled Sounds - wind sounds from patchmanmusic.com - on OUTPUT PAIR "B"). I load my Integra sounds with an iPad running "forScore".

Anyway, I was giving my brain a rest and decided to add these comments to the thread. I thought I had a good Roland Users Group, but can't find my saved link.

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

I got a Integra 7 for 1/3 off at a closing down sale. This is not sounding promising.

I also notice the volume knob and the four panels around the wheel are sticky.
There is a type of soft grip plastic that breaks down over time in this way.
I hope Roland haven't used that in the Integra 7.

rivers,

Thanks - I found the link just after I hit "post" here!
Getting the Integra integrated smoothly with Sonar is not a pressing matter (I certainly have enough VSTs to get the job done), but I have a project coming up where I think the sound architecture of the Integra would fit much better than my VSTs. When I use it in our "live" environment at church, most musicians there can not hear the difference between the acoustic instrument and the Integra reproduction. I would like to use it to create the audio for some of the missing parts on a score for an upcoming recording project.

I guess I'm here scratching my head....I have X2 and it has a utility to import definitions, did this go away in the latest incarnations??

Twelvetone, I have two Integra-7 units, each three years old now.  There is no 'stickyness' in either the volume controls or the four panels around the wheel.

Thank you. I wiped them with a soapy moist cloth, no more sticky. I think it was a display model.

When I create a project, add the Integra 7 editor, close the editor, close the project, Sonar crashes with "Sonarplt.exe has stopped working"

I have the latest drivers, editor and firmware.
It happens whether I use the Integra as an audio interface or only MIDI (Vender set or not).

I have Win7 64

Happens with SPlat 2017/3 and also Jamaica Sand (old Splat I also have installed)

What could it be?
