i just bought music creator 6 via steam to record riffs and add some drums. after the mixdown they sounded awfully off beat. so basically everything more complex than the usual ac/dc beat sounds like a noob playing drums for the first time. does this mean my pc is just too slow or that i need to get a new driver for my sound card? i thought once you convert the file into mp3 or wave it should sound all tight?

You should try a few things first.
 
Increase the midi and audio buffers in preferences. This may let the synth run smoothly to play the drum part like a "pro".... but it will likely cause sync issues with multiple tracks during playback.
 
Depending on the soundcard, MME is probably the preferred driver for a factory soundcard. You can try the others but they will probably not work well. Some folks get satisfaction using ASIO4ALL, some don't.
 
Generally, a factory sound card isn't the best option no matter the driver and settings so we have turned to external interfaces connected by USB and running native ASIO drivers. Properly set, the performance you can get is flawless with midi and audio.
 
You can also try bouncing the synth to audio or freezing the synth. This renders it to audio and audio is easier to process than the synths..... (with the factory card & driver)

Yeah, while the software is not very expensive, it is very capable and needs the proper hardware to run correctly.
 
It's always a good idea to use the best interface you can afford with software like this. I consider the interface to be the heart of the system so buy the best you can afford. You will not regret the purchase.
 
The right tool for the right job. 
 
My day gig is in the security business. I use hand tools like screwdrivers and pliers. I don't buy my tools at Walmart for 99 cents each. I spend quite a bit more to buy the "pro" tools at the supply store. While they are much more expensive, they are designed to last a very long time, make the job easier, not fatigue the hand, and not break under pressure. Same thing with sound cards for recording. Buy one that is designed to do the job that you are trying to do.
