Hello All,
This new PRV is a total game changer.  I never even thought of how simple it could be working with all your tracks.  THIS is the kind of stuff that makes me want to KEEP Sonar as my all in one studio platform.
I do wish they released a video on youtube as they have before for new features.... I am still a little taken back by the filtering and auto-lock.  I get the idea, but sometimes a quick 5 minute video would be helpful.

THIS is a step in the right direction!  Thank you Bakers for this update!

Dude I think its awesome you are finding some of the good in the new PRV changes and posting about them.
Very happy to hear that. Im also digging it myself. the filter is a great addition. I have a few different set ups now that I use with the presets and its making life a lot easier.

Im happy to hear this man

Hi Chuck,

Hey, I thought it was only fair since I recently posted about my gripes as well :).

I think (don't quote me on this) that the MIDI enhancements will follow the same kind of path as comping, where changes were introduced in phases. The positive reception to the recent update will no doubt inspire the Bakers to keep looking at more ways to enhance MIDI.

The BLE-MIDI update is significant, too. There are only a limited number of BLE-MIDI devices out there right now (e.g., CME keyboards, Zivix) but this is an area that will grow a lot in the years to come to help reduce the rat's nest of wires in the studio...and Cakewalk got there first on Windows

Yea its really great.  It's an improvement I never even thought of but helps workflow greatly.   I am having difficulty understanding the auto lock feature, then again I didn't read the documentation yet on it, but it's not intuitive really.

I wish they would make a short video on youtube for it.

A few videos on the Cakewalk Blog. Short and with no audio, but you may be able to glean a little info about this.

totally agree. I'd like to see a video after every update myself. it would help so much with learning the features.
I know it might not always be feasible for Cakewalk to do this as it does take resources, even a raw video would be nice.
I did find the above link helpful though (the cakewalk blog page) there are Gif's with small videos. not as much as I would like but its a start.

After a long session today im starting to really enjoy the PRV changes.
Every one works in different way and I believe some are not happy with the changes and with good reason there could be some improvements are far as I can see. But for what its worth I had a great session today using Audio and midi tracks in the PRV with ease of use solo/muting both midi and audio tracks.

One the best features IMO is "Last touched" I have abused this feature to death.
It holds the last notes snap value, thus not having to play with snap every other note.
I add in all my 1/4 notes then shorten one to an 1/8 note then my snap is set to lay in my 1/8 notes.
I work in small sections (4 bars wide) and use copy/paste then alter those pasted parts, sometimes creating totally new parts.
been doing this method for almost 3 years now. love it. for drums its a breeze because you don't have to change snap value (set it to 1/16 and just go) but for Piano or strings, "Last touched" is where its at.
