It is a little disconcerting, though, that whenever I "bounce to clips" I have to reset the colors because doing so reverts the clip to default colors. That should be fixed.
I don't think that's a bug, soens. Imagine when you combine two clips that have different foreground/background colors and different names. Should Sonar bring up a dialog box asking you which colors and name the new, bounced clip should inherit? If so, I think it's a feature request. I don't know how many of the other DAWs handle this, but Studio One shows the same behavior as Sonar.
How about just bring back the color preferences for "Track 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc... Background clip!
Well, I'm not against the idea of bringing back the option to specify a default clip background color for the track as long as the link between the colors of the track header, clip foreground and PRV notes is retained. But, even the option was brought back, the behavior soens considers an issue would still be there. Let's say you have red, blue and green clips in a track whose default clip background color is set to red. Now, what should happen when you merge the blue and green clips? Which background color (and name) should the merged clip inherit?
Why do I have clips of different colors in a single track? I usually have several groups of linked clips in single track and being able to give different background colors to different groups helps me identify which clips are linked to which clips. And I can also easily identify which clips aren't linked at all, because they have the default black background color.
