I think the term "loyal user" is just an expression. Initially I would say it is someone that has used CW for a long time. I personally started with CW for DOS. I'm not sure that would make me loyal though as I was seduced once by "greener grass" across the street. However, I found it had just been painted!

Perhaps my return makes me a reformed user?

Love the Aeon Flux homage. :)

It's actually Walter/Heisenberg, Aeon works too

I like that the writers took it to another level with the fly being the ghost or re-incarnate of Jane coming back to 'bug' Walter. :)

But I digress...

As previously mentioned, the term loyal user usually shows up as a preface to a complaint or as push back to someone else' complaint.
"I'm a loyal user and I don't feel this is right"
"I've been a loyal user since the DOS days, but this ......."
I almost always find that when a somebody says loyal user, they're mad about something.

I recently binged BB for a second go around.  The subtlety is awesome in places.  Interestingly, I "liked" Walter less the second time.  IMO, letting Jane die was a bit over the top for the Walter character at that point.  He sure ended up being a cold bastard.

Great series, IMO.

Yup.

More twisty and turny than an enormous twisty turny thing.

I wish I could forget it all so that I could watch it all again.

Years ago, when Cakewalk thanked me for my support, I told them not to kid themselves...if I found something that met my needs better, I'd switch in a heartbeat - just liked I switched to SONAR from elsewhere. Yet I'm still using it. So I guess that makes me a loyal user with no loyalty.

yes but is that honesty or just blowing smoke for effect? no offense intended, but it would be hard to see a person in your position, vice pres (or whatever) of the company that owns cakewalk, promoting the new better daw you found, wouldn't you be compromised by your position, you have a vested interest in cakewalk/sonar, i just can't see it. for my way of thinking, anything coming from an employee or spokesperson for a company must be viewed through that companies rose colored glasses so to speak, and anything along the lines of what you spoke of above, treated with a healthy dose of skepticism .

i have owned cakewalk products since pro audio 9 through to lifetime platinum, switched a couple of times during that period, the last time being just over 2 years ago to studio one 3, where i still remain, i have no loyalty to any company or product, i find the notion of that to be ridiculous, i long for something better to come along because it's a win.

Oh yes - that would indeed be awesome!
It's also completely on topic. BB's premise was built around the existence of countless loyal users. I predict it's discussion will be far and above the most useful thing to come out of this thread:)

I must fall in the most loyal user category since Cakewalk is the only DAW I have ever used, and despite the shiny things that other DAWs have to offer, I have never strayed away, because the job I need to get done can always get done in Sonar. Loyalty is about support, dedication and partnership . . . and is never short term, or money driven.
Guess that's what makes me an artist and not a businessman.
