...But lassoing notes in the PRV did not cause focus to change, and couldn't logically do so in the case that notes from more than one track were lassoed so there was inconsistency there that has now been remedied.

It's not lassoing notes, it's clicking ON the note.
As I said, until the previous version, clicking on a note caused the focus to go to the track of this note. This is no longer happening in this new version.

Since this is a bug, what better way to inform officially the Cakewalk, for this to be corrected as soon as possible?

I know. Re-read my previous post. What I'm saying is that having track focus change with clicking a note was inconsistent with the independence of selection and focus in all other contexts and selection by other methods. That inconsistency has now been remedied, but it makes it more problematic that there's never been a good indication in the PRV track pane of which tracks are selected. Track focus should never be taken as a reliable indication of what is or isn't selected; they're independent.

I think what matters is the result, which should facilitate the user's life and not hamper.
In summary, in the current version of PRV, if I have a lot of notes from a lot of instruments in the PRV, if I want to know which track a note belongs to, I will have to look at Track View.
In previous version was easier, because the track was indicated on PRV.
If you're saying that this is not a bug and this will remain so, I'm sorry, Cakewalk walked MANY steps back.

I don't know whether the change was inadvertent (i.e. a bug) or a deliberate design choice. It has advantages and disadavantages. I generally know which notes are which instrument/track by their pattern and pitch range, and have already moved the focus to the track I want to work on in the Track View before selecting anything in the PRV, so it's not a behavior that I relied on.

I can see how this change could be disruptive if you're used to using this behavior to change focus, and using focus as an indication of which part is which. I just think a better solution would be to add a true selection indication, rather than using focus as an incidental indication of selection in this one context.

I have to admit I don't even know what the track picker is, I always just double click a clip. Nevertheless, this thread has inspired me to get up to speed with the new workflow, between all the "complaints" and praise there is actually a lot of good info about specific behaviors.
